Job Title: Drilling Simulator / Performance Coach

Reporting To: Seadrill Academy & Simulator Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Seadrill Academy & Simulator Manager Simulator in delivering technical classroom and simulator activities associated with the Seadrill Academy and DS:6000 Drilling Simulator facility in Dubai, UAE or other training locations. The role incorporates technical content creation and delivery for various levels of course participant including the Drillers Development (DDP0, Rig Senior Leadership (RSM), High Performing Teams (HPT) programs and other training as required.

The Seadrill Academy Drilling Performance Coach will be expected to be able to prioritise workloads and demonstrate willingness to learn in a fast-changing environment.


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Develop, maintain, and update technical classroom content that offers functional learning and development opportunities for those coming through the facility, including PowerPoint, tabletop, and group exercises.
  • Maintaining Technical integrity of all Drilling Academy equipment
  • Identify and work with the Simulator Manager to build/create/enhance Simulator-Based scenarios that accurately reflect the operational environment within the Drilling Department offshore.
  • Become proficient in the use of the DS:6000 Drilling Simulator, to the extent where you can run the Simulator without support or guidance, including safe start-up and shutdown and train others.
  • Manage classroom sessions utilising the Seadrill Well Control Toolbox platform and suggest areas for improvement within the Well Control Toolbox platform.
  • Provide support for those using SOM within the simulator sessions.
  • Manage technical debrief after simulator sessions, providing support to the CRM instructors.
  • Provide technical assessment/Excel report on the candidates coming through the simulator sessions, in-line with the course level attended.
  • Provide general support to training requirements such as create and modify PowerPoint presentations, Excel reports, and support materials for training courses.
  • Conducts safety briefings and any additional training presentations as may be required.
  • Addition Rig Audit requirements as may be required by the Drilling & Well Control Group.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential

  •  10 years + in offshore drilling environment, attaining Toolpusher level or above.
  • Proven technical experience within the Drilling Dept. (Well Control, Operations, Function of Machinery)
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written – including speaking in front of large groups)
  • Strong ability to work respectfully with people of all cultures.
  • Good IT skills including using MS Office Suite and an ability to learn the DS:6000 software.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organisational abilities with a flexible approach to a fast-paced, changeable environment
  • Willingness to learn and a passion to provide a great service to all relevant parties.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
  • Being open-minded and approachable
  • Punctual and hard-working with a flexibility around travel requirements

Desired

  •  Experience in instruction at some level, on the worksite, in a classroom environment, or ideally both
  • Portuguese language skills
  • Technical expertise with Drilling Systems equipment and Simulators
  • Train the Trainer Certified (Methods of Instruction, etc.)
  • Highly action-oriented
  • Ability to manage risks effectively.
  • Ability to clearly articulate benefits & costs of a project

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

  •  Bachelor’s in petroleum engineering, or related areas.
