JOB SUMMARY
Purpose of the Role

The Aftermarket Business Development Manager is accountable for developing the company’s aftermarket sales strategy and delivering additional revenue growth for the business. Responsible for leading a team with the objective of maximizing the sales results of new technology, services, rig modifications & equipment upgrades within the offshore drilling industry. The BD Manager will implement a comprehensive strategy and facilitate a cultural shift for the company – steering the business towards capturing additional revenue during the contract execution period.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Accountable for developing and implementing a market strategy aimed at maximizing the company’s additional revenue yield, via the aftermarket sales of new technology, services, rig modifications and equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinate in-depth market research to identify trends, opportunities, challenges within the offshore drilling industry, focusing on aftermarket sales of services, rig modifications, upgrades, and new technologies.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to drive revenue growth from new technology solutions, services, equipment, and upgrades
  • Work closely with the Commercial, Technical Services, and Operations functions to align on customer engagement, commercial mechanisms, technology advancements, and customer needs.

Sales & Revenue Generation:

  • Accountable for the aftermarket sales of new technologies, services, modifications, including digital solutions, automation, safety enhancements, and equipment upgrades.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales targets by identifying new clients, maintaining a robust pipeline, and closing deals effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Commercial, Technical Services, Operations, HSE, Supply Chain) to develop customized solutions and proposals tailored to customers’ technical requirements.
  • Facilitate training for operational stakeholders, who are customer facing, to foster a culture of aftermarket sales generation.
  • Building various tools to enhance aftermarket sales capabilities of internal stakeholders who are engaging with customers, including Operational, Technical Services, and Commercial team members.
  • Creating an aftermarket sales catalog for each aftermarket sales offering, inclusive of value propositions, business cases, commercial mechanisms, and compelling presentation materials.

New Technology Advocacy:

  •  Stay informed on the latest advancements in offshore drilling technologies, including automation, data analytics, AI-driven solutions, and environmentally sustainable innovations.
  • Educate clients on the value of adopting these new technologies, rig modifications, rig upgrades, and alternative services - demonstrating how they can optimize drilling operations, reduce downtime, and improve cost-efficiency.
  • Participate and attend industry forms, conferences, and networking events that provide opportunities to learn more about the implementation of different rig enhancements or technologies from our customers, peers, and vendors.

Reporting and Forecasting:

  •  Responsible for monitoring and reporting on sales performance, including revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and pipeline of future prospects.
    Prepare accurate forecasts and business reports for senior management to inform strategic decisions.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  •  Experience in understanding and explaining complex technical concepts related to all offshore rig related equipment and systems.
  • Adept and efficient at development of high-quality presentation materials to support business meetings with customers.
  • Exhibits a high proficiency in technical acumen of drilling units, as well as an adept understanding of commercial and financial variables. Able to interpret and communicate technical issues with customers.
  • Ability to develop strategies and find solutions for our customers to invest in our rigs to help improve their well delivery.
  • Used to working and thriving in a cross functional and collaborative environment.
  • Possess global, multinational experience in the offshore drilling services business with exceptional customer relationship management skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence internal and external decision makers. Strong organizational and planning skills, able to drive the development of proposals to customers. Strong facilitation skills, able to control a room for group sessions, i.e., kick-off and status meetings.
  • Demonstrates a forward-thinking mindset and has the ability to lead a team.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements

  •  Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Marketing, or equivalent trade/vocational degree or certification.
  • Experience: 10-15 years’ experience within the energy, oilfield services, and or/ offshore drilling environment.
  • Leadership: 5 years’ experience directly managing individual contributors.

Preferred

  •  Education: Master’s degree
  • Experience: 5 years’ onshore rig management experience on 6th/7th generations drilling rigs
