JOB SUMMARY

Purpose of the Role: 

 The Aftermarket Support Engineer is responsible for acting as a key liaison between the technical and commercial teams to determine technical feasibility of new technology and services as an offering for prospective customers. The individual in this role will foster a deep understanding of technical features, safety enhancements, operational efficiencies, and emissions reduction performance associated with latest innovations and services in the drilling sector and adjacent industries. The objective is to develop a catalogue of aftermarket offerings to enhance aftermarket sales and revenue generation, including marketing materials and presentations that effectively convey the value proposition of new drilling rig technologies and services. The Aftermarket Support Engineer will ensure that Seadrill adequately understands the cost of implementation and performing such scopes, and prospective & existing customers clearly understand the technical and commercial benefits of investing in these new solutions.


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Familiarization & Feasibility Analysis:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the technical features and advantages of all new drilling rig technologies and services that can be sold to customers and generate additional revenue for the business.
  • Assess feasibility and compatibility of technology implementations based on customer requirements, site conditions, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate and engage with the Rig Innovation and Technology team to scout new technologies and evaluate/create implementation strategies in conjunction with the Operations teams.
  • Determine how to maximize technical and commercial value of Seadrill’s existing technological features, including PLATO and ALCM.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks and mitigations associated with new technology deployment.

Value Proposition Development:

  • Create compelling materials and proposals (presentations, reports, case studies) that communicate the safety, operational efficiency, and emissions reduction benefits of new technologies and services.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate complex technical information into accessible, customer-focused messaging.
  • Support commercial teams in aligning messaging with the strategic priorities and needs of target customers to facilitate customer engagement and promote adoption.

Data Collection & Analysis:

  • Gather and analyze data on operational performance, safety metrics, and emissions reduction results from technology implementations.
  • Present clear, data-backed insights on the benefits of new technologies to internal stakeholders and customers, using statistical and visual data representation tools.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a technical resource during customer engagements, providing in-depth knowledge on the capabilities and value of new aftermarket products and additional services.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from customers, clarifying product functionalities, compatibility, and expected outcomes.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to increase customer understanding of available aftermarket services.
  • Participate and engage with the Rig Innovation and Technology team to scout new technologies and evaluate/create implementation strategies in conjunction with the Operations teams.
  • Create and revise commercial proposals in collaboration with our Commercial, Operations and Rig Innovation and Technology teams. Work to develop new and innovative strategies to encourage our customers to invest in our rigs.
  • Benchmark, rate, collect data, and evaluate the different technologies across the different vendors to provide insight and support for Seadrill’s engagements, strategy development, and proposals.
  • Participate and attend industry forms, conferences, and networking events that provide opportunities to learn more about the implementation of different rig enhancements or technologies from our customers, peers, and vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience in offshore drilling operations. Both onshore and offshore experience are valued.
  • Strong understanding of technical, commercial, safety, and operational processes related to the performance of drilling activities
  • Proficient in MS Office package with significant aptitude in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project platforms
  • Must bring necessary seniority and knowledge to manage and work with client technical experts independently without supervision
  • Strong influencing skills to manage internal stakeholders to ensure cross functional alignment and input to commercial proposal and presentations.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with decision-makers and non-specialists
  • Ability to work quickly and with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to manage large volumes of data, risk assessment, use of statistical tools
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable in order to meet changing priorities.
  • Strong team player as well as being a self-starter when work is needed to be done alone

Desired

2 or more years' experience working in an offshore drilling service company in a engineering or operations roll


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or Equivalent. Extensive industry relevant experience, training and other forms of certifications may compensate for lack of formal degree.

Qualification in Business Management Preferred
