JOB SUMMARY
Overall objective of the role is to be a visible and engaged champion of the Seadrill’s Task Process (PIMED - Plan, Identify, Manage, Execute & Debrief) to drive Safe, Efficient and Reliable Operations.

The focus of the role is to support and verify:
The application of the Task Process and Seadrill’s Safety Tools.
Implementation of Seadrill’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements.
Rig operations via visible, proactive and engaged HSE coaching.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Rig Compliance
Administer and support rig compliance actions assigned to the rig in the BROA system to ensure closure within assigned deadlines (where rigs are contracted to Petrobras)

OHSEA Oversight:
Provide day to day guidance, coaching, mentoring and direct supervision to Offshore HSE Advisors (OHSEAs) under their responsibility, including the provision of work plans and routines
Provide inputs for the OHSEA objectives, Personal Development Plan, and annual performance management activities

Task Process (PIMED):
Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), coach, and champion the PIMED process onboard the rig.
Seadrill Management System (SMS):
Maintain a subject matter expertise of HSEQ and other relevant Directives within Seadrill Management System (SMS)
Act as the focal point for internal and external HSE audits onboard (Including ISM, Company, Regulatory, Client HSE Audits)
Maintain a subject matter expertise of relevant Client and Regulatory requirements impacting the rig and/or Seadrill operations
Responsible for the completion of monthly Rig Verifications to verify rig compliance to core HSE requirements

Demonstrate Visible Leadership by active interactions with onboard and onshore management and crews via a direct ‘boots on deck’ approach.
Provide PIMED coaching to senior supervisors i.e. Empowering Eight onboard the rig
Actively support Start Safe HSE programs

Champion HSE and Operational Discipline including core areas of:
Seadrill Life Saving Rules
Major Accident Hazard Management
Environmental Management and Reporting
Maintain currency and SME level proficiency with the SMS to support coaching and mentoring the crew and overall rig compliance with all HSE Polices, Directives and Procedures
Ensures and encourages active collaboration as an integral part of the Area HSE team and HSE Function
Complete Preventive Maintenance tasks (PMs) as defined in the maintenance system, limited to:
Fall Protection Equipment inspections
Portable Ladder inspections
Gas detectors

Recommend improvement plans based on trends (refer to Safety Reporter, Insight and recent investigations and audit findings) and HSE Advisor feedback to HSE Manager


Continual Improvement
Active collaboration with onboard rig management team to identify support areas/opportunities in the daily Control of Work meeting
Proactively identifying and communicating lessons learned, opportunities for improvement and best practices to line management to ensure continuous improvement
Engage with necessary stakeholders to support implementation of Red Rig Recovery Plans
Lead or support HSE event investigations as directed
Share HSE industry good practices, lessons learned, safety and environmental alerts, as necessary
Support Rig leadership team to verify the effective implementation and sustainability of the STAR Program, and coach the rig teams on the criticality of engaged STAR conversations and STAR Drills
In collaboration with HSE and Rig Management develop, execute, and monitor Rig HSE plans
Share lessons learned stemming from external audits (Client/Regulatory) to drive consistency and good practice throughout rigs operating in the Area

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
As per Seadrill training and competence directives.

Essential
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Offshore HSE or 10 Years’ Experience in Onshore HSE related field outside of drilling industry
Must possess strong analytical skills and be able to confidently communicate
Team player and must aim to continually monitor and promote all core HSE processes to Offshore Crews and Onshore Rig Management
Qualified and proficient in incident investigation and root cause identification processes
Proficiency in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…. etc.)
Effectively communicate message in either written and verbal form
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Maintain currency and SME knowledge of industry initiatives impacting Seadrill operations (e.g., IADC, DROPS, HPOG…)
Knowledge and understanding of applicable HSE regulatory requirements
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of applicable Client requirements and/or bridging documents
Familiarity with Flag and Coastal State requirements and applicable international regulations (ex. ISM, IMO…etc.).

Governance and career progression:
Minimum of 36 months in position of Offshore HSE Advisor, and 5 years in a HSE role
Holds a NEBOSH International General Certificate in OH&S or equivalent HSE certification (e.g., Brazilian safety technician certificate)
Completion of Seadrill Training Matrix and Competence Matrices
Participation on audit team with Company Auditor on HSE Compliance Audit, competence verified by Company Audit Team member
To be formally identified on a succession plan of being capable for promotion above Offshore HSE Advisor
Active Personal Development Plan
Recommendation must be approved by Area HSE Manager by recent appraisal


Minimum Requirements

BOSIET, Offshore survival training and other training as required by the Area assigned

NEBOSH International General Certificate in OH&S or equivalent HSE certification (e.g., Brazilian safety technician certificate)


Preferred
Higher education qualification in HSE/Engineering or Risk Management discipline
Ability to speak other languages
