Head of Digital Architecture

Role Objective

· Drive forward Seadrill’s Corporate Objectives through the definition and delivery of an innovative Global Digital Strategy. Engage with the Seadrill Executive Team to ensure that the Digital Strategy is seen to be a key business differentiator.

· Support this Strategy with clear Roadmaps for all technology domains including Infrastructure, Security, Applications, Integration and Data.

· Working closely with the CIO and the ISIT Leadership Team, to ensure that the Roadmaps deliver business value whilst managing impacts such as end of service life, IT service resilience, process adoption/adaption to change and cost.

· Exercise strong leadership across internal and external partner resources to assure alignment of designs, consistent with the Digital Strategy, Architecture Principles and the governance framework for both Technical Design Authority (TDA) and the Project Delivery Framework (PDF).

· Recruit and retain a diverse team that are adequately skilled and motivated to proactively engage across all levels and geographies of Seadrill’s business. Assisting in evaluating, solutioning and trouble-shooting across all IT functions and working at the point of need.

· Manage and maintain the Enterprise Architecture Repository of documentation.

 

Principle accountabilities and Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain the Seadrill Digital Strategy;

· Lead innovation and investigation into disruptive technologies applicable to Seadrill business objectives;

· Maintain a full Technology Roadmap and working with the PMO, initiate strategic Programmes of work in accordance with the Technology Roadmap;

· Maintain the governing principles and design standards to guide technology decision making through leadership of the Technical Design authority (TDA);

· Lead the evaluation and selection of solutions designs, ensuring designs are optimized and the integrity of the enterprise-wide architecture is maintained;

· Deliver cost savings and value creation in accordance with the agreed business plan;

· Strengthen Seadrill’s digital security posture;

· Ensure accurate and complete architecture related documentation is maintained including definition of current state Architecture, Technical Roadmaps and where appropriate authoring of Solution Blueprints.

· Manage and motivate a team of Architecture professionals;

· Influence and share architectural best practice across ISIT.

Essentials

Experience and Skills:

· Excellent influencing skills at Senior Executive/ Board Level regarding technology impact and value opportunities;

· A degree in a technical or business management discipline (or equivalent qualification) OR significant experience in a senior architecture role within the oil & gas industry;

· Significant experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as Applications, Infrastructure or Integration) in a multi-tier global environment.

· Experience of playing an influential role in the selection and design of a significant technical solution that was successfully adopted in accordance with a defined Strategy

· Experience of working in or with a Tier 1 outsourcing organization or leading consulting services.

· Excellent analytical and technical skills. Fast problem solver.

· Respected as a Leader but also able to be a team player.

· Demonstrates support for the business and its strategy

· Neutral towards technology, vendor and product choices; with a keen focus on business outcomes

· Unflappable in the face of opposition to architectural ideals

· Effective at driving short and mid-term actions that are consistent with long-term goals

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions

 

Technical Knowledge:

· Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and hybrid environments including Cloud Platform Services (IaaS, SaaS and PaaS), ERP and Communication Technologies;

· Knowledge and experience of the components of holistic solutions architecture such as cyber security, developing cloud integration and service-based architectures;

· Ability to work with IT performance and diagnostic tooling.

 

Desirables

Certifications or detailed knowledge of:

· TOGAF certification

· ITIL Foundation or higher certification
