JOB SUMMARY
The IT Infrastructure and Operations Lead is responsible for collaborating across a team of engineers and other technical professionals to design, build, maintain, and support Seadrill’s global portfolio of server, network & storage infrastructure solutions (e g., on-premises / Azure Environments, operating systems (Linux/windows) & virtualized environments).  This is an individual contributor, experienced technical role, which will regularly interact with and guide outsourced/partner contractor resources.

The role will be based in Seadrill’s Houston location, which follows a hybrid model (presently four days in the office each workweek). 


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead end-to-end management of Seadrill’s global server & storage infrastructure portfolio (on premises (rig level) & Azure), inclusive of strategic planning through operational support and maintenance.
  • Manage the design of Seadrill’s on-premises (rig level) and Azure, with particular emphasis on shaping our cloud and virtualization strategy in close partnership with the Director of IT, our IT Security team, the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager, IT engineers as well as IT vendors.
  • Manage, operate, and maintain a secure and reliable network infrastructure for Seadrill. Collaborate with the network teams on an ongoing basis in ensuring that network resources are made available to users efficiently, effectively, and quickly.
  • Coordinate data center operations and work with multiple internal & external stakeholders to run the company’s infrastructure smoothly, with primary emphasis on business effectiveness, availability, stability, and reliability.
  • Oversee the design, testing, and implementation of infrastructure disaster recovery, backup / business continuity plans, procedures, audits, and enhancements to promote an environment of high availability.
  • Partner closely with the IT security team, application solutions teams, helpdesk team and other relevant stakeholders to establish common standards and objectives for Seadrill’s infrastructure solutions and functional objectives.
  • Manage capacity planning and system optimization efforts for infrastructure solutions (e.g., infrastructure performance, performance fine tuning, environment scaling).
  • Manage and coordinate technical support (in collaboration with the helpdesk team) for Seadrill’s on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure environments (e.g., Tier 2, Tier 3 technical support in a 24x7 environment).
  • Manage workload of staff and vendors, and mentor a team of junior and senior engineers with diverse mix of skill sets and experience.
  • Facilitate teamwork with cross-functional stakeholders and personnel from other groups across the company, vendors, and third-party providers.
  • Monitor industry trends and anticipate changes to Seadrill’s infrastructure footprint. Proactively consult with Seadrill stakeholders to translate company needs into solution roadmaps which are socialized and aligned to broader IT and company strategic priorities.
  • Travel Required: Generally expected to be less than 15%, as business needs dictate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential

  •  Demonstrated experience with managing the system lifecycle for global infrastructure solutions and capabilities (e.g., on-prem / cloud-based infrastructure, operating systems & virtualized environments).
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure design in a global, multitenant environment including on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading cloud and virtualization transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies (e.g., Azure).
  • Demonstrated working with identity and access management technologies and solutions (e.g., Azure, MS Defender, Active Directory/Azure AD).
  • Demonstrated experience with network and system administration, including operating system configuration and account management best practices.
  • Experience with ITIL service management practices, standards, and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability for oral and written communication with the highest levels of management.
  • Experience with developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a constantly changing and evolving environment.
  • Certification Required: Azure Administrator Associate

Desired

  • Certification Preferred: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, and 5-8 years related experience (or combination of equivalent education and experience) with history of proven technical and leadership roles.
