JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Communications is a dynamic and challenging role for candidates that are excellent communicators, non-linear thinkers, and initiative-takers! The role is partly traditional corporate communications where you’ll support the development, management, and delivery of an integrated communications strategy and plan for Seadrill across all channels, existing and new, consistent to Seadrill strategy and objectives and in collaboration with all on the Communications Team. You’ll do this by being the lead Business Partner to internal support functions and Operating Units.
The other part of the role is to be an adaptable strategic thinker with a flair for navigating ambiguity and fostering clarity in undefined environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a nimble mindset, swiftly adapting to change, and leading with creativity amidst uncertainty.


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Strategy

  • Collaborate with Director of Communications to create, adapt, and deliver a cohesive Seadrill Communications Strategy across internal and external channels.
  • Translate Seadrill- and function-level strategies into actionable communication objectives and plans.
  • Understand and embrace the opportunity to influence Seadrill culture and morale.
  • Maintain an informed knowledge of the oil and gas industry, including offshore drilling and future technology developments.

Business Partnering

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, leaders, champions, and influencers; understand their motivations, perspectives, and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a ‘seat at the table’ with functional leaders to guide and inform their communications strategy; be the thought leader.
  • Manage and deliver function- and campaign-specific communications plans; set clear objectives and develop an action-oriented plan to achieve them.

Content Production

  • Manage and produce various publications, newsletters, copy for websites, press releases, presentations, and articles and conduct meetings to share information, where needed.
  • Manage and produce digital content including video, podcasts, social media, interactive PowerPoint.
  • Embrace continuous learning and utilization of new communication technologies including the use of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality.

Project Sponsorship & Management

  • Lead and support special projects as the need arises.
  • Manage other team members and contractors delivering special Communications projects and campaigns; monitor and manage their performance.

Communications Excellence

  • Support the development and ongoing improvement of the Communications Operating Model.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Listens to be heard.
  • Highly articulate individual with excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to produce high volume, quality communication to tight timescales and budgets.
  • Ability to adapt amid evolving priorities.
  • End to end delivery – milestones/deliverables tracking, used to working to marketing/comms production schedules is translatable to this.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder engagement/management – influencing & shifting mindsets.
  • Ability to travel, including overseas and offshore.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Teams).

Desired

  • Proficient to fluent in the management and use of Content Management Systems (SharePoint), Adobe Design Suite (Indesign, Photoshop), and social media (Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Preference given to candidates with drilling and/or other Oil & Gas experience.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree qualified of 2.1 or above or 6+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Managed teams and/or projects of 2+ people and/or $100K budget.
  • BOSIET certification or willingness to get certified.

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
