JOB SUMMARY

The Contracts Lead will be responsible for facilitating activities concerned with contracts for services on a global scale. This role will report directly to the Global Contracts Manager in Houston, Texas and work within the Business Development organization.


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate and lead negotiations with clients to uphold Seadrill’s Contracting Standards and secure the optimal terms for the company
  • Reviewing complex contract documents and markup in accordance with established protocol and timing requirements to complete contract redlines for tender submissions
  • Mitigating contractual risk by negotiating terms and conditions while supporting commercial and organizational objectives
  • Collaborate with and advise multidisciplinary management teams, including Business Development, Legal, Operations to adequately assess associated risks
  • Balancing commercial, operational and legal risks protect the company and maximize financial returns
  • Develop pre-negotiation objectives and implement negotiation strategy reviews as part of the proposal development process
  • Oversee the endorsement and approval process for execution of any contract related documents
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with contractual obligations
  • Support operations in contractual dispute resolution
  • Facilitate contract amendments or variations
  • Maintain contractual records and documentations and ensuring procedures are in place for control of all contract correspondence, contractual changes, status reports and other documents for all assigned projects.
  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to perform the closure tasks required as part of contract completion. Arrange returns of Performance Bonds, PCGs, Closure letters.
  • Occasional travel could be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Preferably prior experience of dealing with offshore drilling or energy businesses
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Strong commercial mindset and able to work under pressure;
  • Ability to lead initiatives and coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic team player;
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems;
  • Structured and systematic with good communication and writing skills;
  • Excellent English skills both written (contractual wording) and oral;
  • Must be well organized and have good attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering
  • Extensive experience may compensate for lack of formal qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of related prior experience with Contracts, Business Development, or Drilling Operations
